Colleges & Schools
The nation’s 17,450 K-12 school districts spend more than $6 billion annually on energy, while higher education facilities spend close to $2 billion each year on energy. As much as 30 percent of an educational facility’s total energy is wasted1
. Delmarva Power has solutions to help administrators increase the energy efficiency of school buildings and facilities. Adopting a strategic approach to energy management can lower your energy bills by 30 percent or more. In addition to energy cost savings, energy efficiency can help you reduce maintenance costs and extend your equipment life while creating healthier, more comfortable learning and work environments.
Delmarva Power offers cash incentives for the installation of qualified energy-efficient equipment that can help you reduce energy use and lower operating costs. Efficient upgrades to lighting, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, and commercial kitchen equipment can help your school reduce operating and maintenance costs as well as reducing environmental impacts. The savings you realize on energy costs go straight to your bottom line. And many upgrades pay back their investment in less than three to five years. A well-designed energy efficiency project can also significantly improve lighting and indoor air quality—features that are essential for learning, health, and the well-being of students and staff.1 Colleges and K-12 Fact Sheet PDF
